You won t find Beach Kitsch paintings in those fancy-smancy big city auctions. The painter very likely had a wonderful time creating the work. I m betting it had something to do with one of those vacations we ve all taken where we say to our friends: I m going to move down here.
It s big - 38 by 34 - painted on stretched canvas nailed to the stretcher.
Condition = No Problems except for some relatively minor losses at the inside edge of the stretcher.
Whatcha think? Jamaica? Haiti? It’s Caribbean, don’t you think? I can tell you for sure, it’s not Ohio.
It is signed, lower right: GWEN Z. RHODES - 5 - 52 That brings up the obvious question: What does the Z stand for?

Second: I don t clean, repair, or otherwise monkey around with anything. I push enough dust aside to note any flaws, but if I discovered it in some dusty attic, you can look forward to a little dust on it when it gets to your house. If it has a flaw or a wart, I ll tell you about it. So rest easy and have some fun. Why not place a little tiny bid right now so s you don t forget about it later.
